Fitness and Health Conditions
The Internet – Since the onset and surge of the internet, millions of people that did not own computers before, do now. Hours upon hours are spent in front of a small screen causing eye strain, fatigue, and poor posture. Not to mention the time this takes away from physical exercise.
Video Games – Many children are restricted to indoor activities due to safety concerns of their parents. It used to be fine to send the kids out to play and they would be outdoors for hours upon hours. Now, it is the other way around.
Electronic Devices – Every kid wants to be “connected” these days. It started with email, then cell phones, next came the ability to text your messages, and now there are online social networks to keep kids distracted from exercise for hours upon days and more hours and hours.
Busy Lifestyles – It is common now for both parents in a household to work. Many work at least 8 hours a day or longer and then commute for many more hours. Anxiety and fatigue are common side effects of a busy lifestyle. Diet has become fast food and exercise is walking to and from the car.
Something must give. What has suffered is our health. Common health conditions like stroke, high blood pressure, bowel disease, and people having trouble sleeping are all symptomatic of a society letting itself go. What must happen now is a complete shift in focus. Our parents used to say, “everything can be done in moderation”. So consider that you can do all of the things you do now, just less of them…..and do more of the things you are not currently doing.
One of the first things you can do is set goals for fitness and health, such as a good lose weight diet plan to get you started. This can be as simple as setting a limit on the number of sodas you drink in a day. Establish a routine and set aside 20 minutes a day for 5 days a week to get your heart rate going. Eat a small breakfast, even if it is just a dry piece of toast and glass of juice on the way out the door. Your metabolism will kick in and you can actually lose weight from eating something in the morning.
Next, set aside some time to relax some. Your body needs to rest emotionally, so find something quiet to do each day for 15 to 20 minutes. Also, try to cook at home as much as possible. Eating out a lot is not a smart health fitness nutrition strategy.
Fitness and Health Guide For Busy Moms
When you’re busy balancing work, kids, and home life in general, you might feel that there’s not enough time in the day for health and fitness. The word “exercise” just doesn’t seem to fit into your vocabulary. But there’s good news. With just a little daily commitment, you can achieve good health and fitness in no time without adding stress to your already busy schedule.
Start with Slow Exercise and Build Strength
Get started with slow, easy exercises that you can handle. Do about 20 to 30 minutes of exercise or activity each day or at least several times per week. Start with less strenuous activities and then work your way up to more strenuous exercises as you build muscle strength. This will improve your fitness and health without putting too much strain on your body, especially if you’ve been inactive for a while.
Some examples of low fitness activities you might try include walking, playing outdoor games with your kids (ball, tag, volleyball, badminton, flying a kite, etc.), walking the dog, mowing the lawn or gardening, housework, walking stairs, or riding a bike. When you want to have fun with your kids, opt for the park instead of the ice cream shop. Be mindful of physical activity in everything you do. This will help your kids get exercise as well without feeling pressured about it.
If you work outside the home, you can take walks during your breaks. Even a daily 15-minute walk can make a big difference!
Increasing Activity
As your body grows stronger, you might choose to add some aerobic exercise to your daily routine. Do this slowly and increase the intensity and time of your aerobic activity in short increments so you won’t overdo it. Aerobic exercise helps you burn more calories and improve heart health.
Some examples of aerobic fitness activities include fast walking or jogging, cycling, dancing, swimming, skating, skiing, step aerobics, or racket sports. You can also enroll in an aerobics class if you feel you’re ready to commit to it several times per week. Or, there are DVDs that teach you to do aerobic workouts at home.
Another way to increase fitness activity is to invest in exercise equipment such as a treadmill, fitness band, yoga mat, ab wheel, workout weights, row machine, or stationary bike. These allow you to workout in the comfort of your own home with the same results as outdoor fitness activities.
Pamper Your Muscles
Be sure to pamper your muscles a little before and after workouts. Do stretches before working out and then “cool down” afterwards to allow your muscles to relax. Also, take soothing baths after a workout or in the evening before bedtime to help your muscles and body to relax. This will make workouts more enjoyable and give you something to look forward to each day.
Supplement Your Diet for Better Fitness and Health
To enhance your fitness efforts, supplement your diet with nutritious items such as protein and amino acids or other vitamins and minerals. There are nutritional shakes, protein shakes, vitamin supplement pills, nutrition bars, and other items to enhance your diet as you increase your fitness activity. These will also enhance your overall health. Look for vitamins that are specifically designed for women.
Fitness and Health
While trying to think of a catchy first sentence to this article about the relationship between fitness and health, it occurred to this author that the two elements of one’s life are much like a recipe. That is, they are the ingredients to your recipe for good overall health. Alone, they might “taste” alright, but when paired, they create something truly amazing.
For individuals seeking to lose weight and get into shape, a renewed emphasis on both fitness and health is crucial. The next logical question – where should you begin?
What is Health?
What is health, really? It is important that we make its definition clear. From this point forward, the word health will be used in this article to describe the general condition of one’s mind, body, and spirit.
Using this definition, it becomes clear that quality nutrition must lie at the center of good health. Without it, good overall fitness and health simply cannot be achieved.
The easiest way for a person seeking to lose weight to reform their diet is to reverse the typical train of thought dieters often encounter. Rather than thinking about your diet in terms of what you cannot eat, try employing the far less limiting strategy of thinking about how much you CAN eat. There are hundreds of thousands of healthy recipes that are as equally delicious as their unhealthy cousins. Dieting is as much a battle of perception as it is one of not eating unhealthy foods. If you start with reforming your diet, you will be one-step closer to good fitness and health.
A Boost from Fitness
Did you know that incorporating even a small amount of additional physical activity into your daily routine could have a rather noticeable impact on the pace of your weight loss? Yes, it is true; your worst enemy – exercise – can provide an added boost to your weight loss efforts.
To take advantage of the benefits of exercising on a daily basis, pick an activity that you enjoy. Activities ranging from walking around the block, to running several miles, or even playing outside with your children or grandchildren have the power to speed up your weight loss. But that’s not all.
Regular exercise helps your body get to, and maintain, its peak levels of fitness and health. Engaging in added physical activity causes your body to burn more calories than it otherwise would. When combined with a diet centered on a healthy meal plan, the effects are magnified many times over.
